Anaheim Police Shoot and Kill a Knife-Wielding Man Near La Palma Park

Ever heard about a drive-by shooting? Anaheim police claim yesterday that two of its officers were nearly part of a drive-by stabbing--and that's why they had to shoot the assailant dead. The incident began around 2:40 p.m., when a motorcycle cop pulled a brown Chevy Suburban over near La Palma Park. "At some point, a suspect that was completely unrelated to that traffic stop, stopped his pickup truck, exited with an 8- to 12-inch kitchen-type knife and charged at the officer," Anaheim Police Department spokesman Lt. Eric Trapp tells the Weekly. "The officer retreated and what we believe was the initial officer-involved shooting occurred."
